Job Description

The Radiology department for BluePearl Veterinary Partners NYC, located in Midtown Manhattan, invites applications for a 1-year veterinary Diagnostic Imaging internship. The program will run from 7/15/2019-7/4/2020.

Program Description: This internship will provide direct training by two board certified radiologists based out of our Midtown Manhattan hospital. The radiology team reviews images and provides diagnostic imaging support for all four of our New York City hospitals (Midtown, Downtown, Queens, and Brooklyn). Training will focus on radiographic interpretation and dictation, and ultrasonography. Introductory training in computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and fluoroscopy will also be provided. The specialty intern will be expected to participate in house officer training rounds and journal club (3 days per week), as well as routine diagnostic imaging journal club (every other week). A research project or case report is not required, but is strongly encouraged. The specialty intern will spend 4 days a week with the radiology team, and one day a week on our emergency service. Emergency shifts will be always be with another emergency clinician or criticalist. There will also be planned elective time for the intern to rotate with any of our other specialties.

Our Hospitals: BluePearl Veterinary Partners NYC is a group of 4 busy referral and emergency practices in New York City. All hospitals are 24/7 hospitals, with full-time Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Critical Care. Other specialty services are provided several days each week at all hospitals: Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Neurology, Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. We have full service hospitals in Brooklyn (Gowanus), Midtown Manhattan, Downtown Manhattan, and Queens (Forest Hills) that are fully integrated in the NYC group.

All of our hospitals have digital radiography, ultrasonography, and CT capabilities. We are currently in the process of upgrading from low-field MRI and we are actively installing 1.5T Siemens MRI units in both our Midtown and Brooklyn locations.

Salary and benefits: The diagnostic imaging intern will receive a salary of $39,000. Benefits include $1000 state license/CE stipend, 80 hours paid time off, including sick days; professional liability insurance (PLIT) including license defense protection (AVMA membership required), VIN membership; and BluePearl health, dental and vision insurance plans. New York City and State VMA/VMS membership is provided. Interns will also have access to numerous veterinary journals and the BluePearl electronic library.

  1. Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary school, or otherwise eligible to obtain a New York State license to practice veterinary medicine.
  2. Legally able to live and work in the USA by the program start date (USA or Canadian citizen, USA permanent resident, or appropriate work visa). Regretfully, we will not consider applicants requiring an H-1B or similar employer-sponsored visa to be able to work in the United States.
