Job Description

The University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine, is seeking applicants for short-term or longer-term locum radiologists. DVM or equivalent degree and ACVR or equivalent board certification required. Periods of one to several weeks preferred but negotiable.

The Veterinary Medical Center is a very busy, multi-specialty teaching hospital located in St Paul, MN. The Medical Imaging service supports surgery, neurology, oncology, cardiology, internal medicine, emergency and critical care, ophthalmology, dermatology, urgent care and primary care practices. The Radiologist will be performing clinical duty working with interns, residents, and faculty. The locum role requires interpretation of digital radiographs (DR and CR), CTs (64-slice), MRIs (3 T) and special procedures (e.g., fluoroscopic procedures and contrast studies) of small (predominantly) and large animals. Performance and interpretation of ultrasounds in dogs and cats is not the emphasis of the locum but may be required.

Reporting is through fully integrated voice recognition. Consultation with in-house clinicians and referring veterinarians is also expected. Instruction of house officers and students on radiology rotation occurs throughout the day.

Compensation will be dependent upon experience and is negotiable. Licensure by the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine would be required, and the Veterinary Medical Center would cover the associated fees. Appropriate work authorization is required.
